Ristorante Taverna Verde da Morzariello

When we thought we had run out of fun things to do, a friend suggested a visit to Ristorante Taverna Verde on the island of Ischia. We called ahead to book a table for 19:30, and our host (Ernesto) was very gracious in making the booking. All in all, it was quite an amazing experience, and… Only one Coniglio was harmed in the making of this production. For the stages, we began bruschetta pomodori with a small portion of Coniglio Lasagna, followed by (not spaghetti) al dente bucatini, followed by the most honorable Coniglio, followed by several desserts: Baba Rhum, Torta Carota, and Torta Caprese (chocolate cake with coarsely ground almonds). All in all, an incredible experience and “il Cesare” (our service dog) did not go hungry while waiting under our table. Our hosts, Gabrielle and Ernesto, were most gracious and pleasantly conversive throughout our meal.

The most authentic meal of Ischia me and my wife have had in our entire 2 weeks here. Both the rabbit and the wine we’re products of the house and incredibly delicious. Literally finger licking good! You have to get the coniglio (rabbit) and eat it with your hands, the Ischian way, as we were told by our waitress. The white wine was very suave, we enjoyed it very much. The prices was also very appropriate.

A nice and rustic restaurant. Out of the heavily touristic area and it has a more authentic and local flavour profile. Friendly staff and good food. I am vegetarian and they were very accommodating while my boyfriend enjoyed the traditional meat dishes

I wanted to eat rabbit. I descend from Italians. A rabbit like made by my grandmother. I highly recommend it.

If you want to try one of the island’s most typical dishes, coniglio all’ischitana, this restaurant is a must. The staff is super friendly and advised us well on the food and wine selection. With its nice location on the hill side you have a nice view and can enjoy the sunset as well.

Delicious food. Nice people. Great homemade wine- we tried the white and the red. Lovely dog, Mocha, who loves belly rubs. While they immediately told us their specialty was rabbit, they were able to make us a delectable vegan spread!!! So fresh. Highly recommend!

Authentic and so divine! You don’t need a menu when you come to the Taverna Verde! Just take their rabbit and go for the full menu, including the pasta with rabbit ragu - such a dish full of taste, flavor. The rabbit (I’d suggest half a rabbit for 2, if you had the pasta before) comes in a dish which is still boiling and when tasting it, you’ll be amazed by the tenderness, love and passion put behind it. Cooked in an open fire oven, this just tastes so good. Try out the local wine, it was hot when we were there and we enjoyed the cold white wine, full of the island’s volcanic flavours.

Visited Ischia for the first time & wanted to try the famous Ischian rabbit dish. Our hotel (Villa Bina) recommended Taverna Verde & it was wonderful. We don’t speak Italian and the staff was so nice and helpful with us; explained everything. The traditional format to the dinner is a starter, pasta with the tomato’s the rabbit is cooked in & then the Coniglio all'Ischitana itself (which you can share). Everything was delicious & you can tell made with love. Absolutely give them a try and don’t be nervous at all!
